I've just been offered an IT contract with a big pharma company and I have been told today thats its subject to a medical. The thing is I won't actually be working for them directly , I'm going to be paid by an agency.

Does this strike anyone as odd ??, i've never been asked for a medical doing a contract.

Maybe to ensure that you don't use their products?:D

Sounds odd, but if it wasn't via an agency, would it still seem odd? If not, then its ok, as lots of jobs are being outsourced through agencies, but still have checks. Heck, 4 of the last 6 jobs had security checks.

Are you working in a production facility? If so then they need to screen you before you start in case of a later medical problem.
