thinking back on it i figured i was facing a flush draw and even possibly an over set, JJ. I originally wanted to fold the hand but figured if i was against a flush draw i was ahead... the player acting after me i was sure would fold... how wrong i was...

any comments as to my play??

    No.

That said I don't think I'm ever getting away from Ad9d in this hand either. You got your chips in as a favourite and got unlucky. C'ést la vie.

PS: Your flop bet is horrific

I think you should have been betting more than 100 on the flop because your giving them about 8:1 to catch their flush. When they went all in you have to call, all thats beating you is JJ.

What's with the min raising Jeff?

    You suck.

LOL :D i know! the hand is from a $5 STT on tribeca where most raises are called regardless.... that and it winds up certain boardsters!! :p

raie more preflop, your not really doing anything with that amount raise preflop jeff so you need to make it more than if you want to raise.
also the min raise post flop is very very bad as well.that board is a draw heavy board and your offerring them great odds to be chsasing anything really .you need to protect your hand so you should ar least make a pot sized bet here.
that said there is no way u should/could or even want to getaway from this hand .

You can only post " ah it was only a home game " or it was a €5 stt" so many times.

Sorry but its dreadful play and it doesn't matter if its the WSOP or .01/.02 cent games its AWFUL.

    Opr

Sorry meant to clarify talking about the flop bet

I think you played this poorly from the get go, never mind seeing if you should get away from it. You only make it 3x with 2 limpers already and 6 people see the flop (I think, reading HH's hurt me my head :) ). You then bet 100 into a pot of 720, way too little. There is a flush draw there and 5 players. You should bet the pot here. If so do this then there is so question of you folding. Even so there should be no question of folding here. Get it on.

Morale of the story, make it 200 preflop with 2 limpers, then if you still have a few callers, all in on that dangerous flop.

I must read the spoiler now.

Addendum - I tried to post this in the duplicate thread that exploded when I tried to post it. Don't duplicate post again :)

I wouldn't raise to 3 BB's from that position after a limper at level 1 beacuse your going to get called in at least 2 places. The flop is very likely to come with an over card and its very unlikely you'll hit your set so if theres much action on the flop your gonna have to drop your 9's.

The bet on the flop is terrible. What are you trying to achieve? Bet more. There's 4 other people in, your gonna get called.

Your never getting away from this.

(didnt mean to multi post this thread! apologies)

my preflop bet is 3bb's total, i dont want to be betting much more that this with 99.

My postflop bet, i agree looks bad (and probably is) what my thinking was i want to disguise my 999 with a weak bet as from what i can tell most people at this level check raise their sets and are very easy to spot. i know i'm going to get called by any flushers for 100, i think anyone chasing a flush draw is also likely to call a pot bet at this level. If everyone calls the 100 and a diamond hits the turn, i drop my hand cheaply. whereas if i bet pot and a diamond hits the turn it costs me much more. When the player went all in it screamed of weakness and was an insta-call for me. With two players all in the nut flush draw player is always calling aswell i think.

i agree though my post flop bet should be more.

I was expecting to see JJ in the spoiler, but I didn't. I saw that you got all your money in as a favourite. You played the hand very very badly. This is a BB thread hand if ever I saw one.

Either flat call or raise more.

Well if you had bet more on the flop, you wouldn't have encouraged the guy to go all in giving the flush draw the odds to play. At this level though I would imagine they would both stay anyhow, but this is not a reason to play incorrectly.

Jeff your thinking and poker logic is flawed :

    1) you said you didn’t want to raise more with 99 with that many limpers.
There are reasons for raising. you rasie to build the pot, or to to thin the field or you raise in position to steal on the flop .a raise is suppose to have an intention and a reason behind it.this raise here with that amount fails to accomplish anything expect building up a pot with many players. you have good position here raise more and punish the limpers.
or if its loose game don’t raise.

    2) there is a time for disguising big hands and there is a time for protecting them.
when the pot is small and the board is safe then its ok to slow play big hands so you get give others to catch up and hopefully make more.
but when the pot is big(relative to blinds) and the board is scary then you will need protect you hand and disguising your actual holdings is not really that important.
also you say if you bet bigger then the flush chasers will call anyway:
    which is better:
letting them get there or chase for cheap or charging them big money for it?
the more you are certain they will call your big bets, the higher amount you should bet here. thinking of "oh well they are going to call anyway so i should i bet big here ,i wait and see the turn and river and then i will bet if there is no flush..." is wrong. if there is no flush then they are not going to call

i was playing it saw it laughed so very hard. having made this atroucious play jeff bravely fought on. also jeff always bets a little look at how weak i am bet with his sets is this always a bad play as if the cards hold out as suppossed to he has trebled up? can jeff fold after the flop all in?

i won the table just to rub salt in the wound going to buy a happy meal with jeffs 5 dollors.

That's the best read you've probably ever made. ;)

One day I'll be good enough to take on the $25 re-buy's on tribecca, but only after you release the book :p

    ship it!
