TG4 interferes with Sky in different rooms

Just a little problem, i wonder if anyone has had it before or am i just doing somthing wrong.

i have the cable from the ariel on the roof going into the 'Ariel in' on the back of my sky box. 'RF Out' '1' and '2' (back of sky box) are feeding the kitchen and the bedroom.

i can see all chanels except TG4 and sky in the other rooms, it's as if they are interfering with each other because when i unplug the ariel from the roof i can see sky and if i turn off my skybox i can see TG4.

It's a real pain in the @rse because if you want to watch sky in any other room, bar the sitting room, you have to unplug the (roof) ariel loosing all terestrial channels.

    any ideas greatly apreciated.....

    change the rf out channel

    on the remote go to
services >> type 4 0 1 >> should be an option there to change the output channel. then change the channel number to something that the terrestril channels dont use

not at a digibox to verify the actual steps but i am 90% confident in my memory

Nice one Mossy , worked a treat, thought it would be somthing simple, you've just made my world cup viewing even more enjoyable, at least now i can watch it in peace without the wife wanting to watch something on sky. cheers.

Ch 68 is not generally used in UK. VHS etc usually default at 36. So Sky chose Ch68 as default. However a large proportion of Irish viewers get TG4 on Ch68.

The manual has no information on changing the RF channel. Why this is not part of the main user Setup menu rather than Hidden installer menu is a mystery to me.

It is strange that it's not included in the manual (where you expect to be told how to change settings if reqd.)

Though because of the problem above, I would say the hidden installer menu is the place for it. If it accidentally got changed by someone wondering "what happens if i change this", you have no way of figuring out what just happened!

    Agreed.
I always change down to ch 25 and it gives me no problems.

Except that in my area TG4 is on ch23 and TV3 is on 26. Not a good idea then.

The TG4 transmitters on ch 68 are at Maghera (which transmits to the Midwest) and Clermont Carn (the north east) and a relay for Letterkenny.

in most other parts of the country 68 is fine, apart from some areas where 'deflectors' might be operating on 68 or an adjacent channel.

    BTW
Depending on the quality of the TV in use and strength of TV reception viewers may get image-interference (causing patterning) occuring 9 channels below a strong channel (such as a Sky digibox RF out), so something weakish on Channel 59 might be affected by a modulator on 68, depending on the quality of the TV's tuner. If the viewer's TV suffers from this problem (which is likely if its a cheap brand!) , avoid setting the modulator on a channel that is 9 channels above a TV station if possible.
