I'm quite interested in the Scanguage II automotive computer, but it needs the OBD-II diagnostic connector.

    I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Pajero...

    Anybody got any ideas ?

I think ODB-II became compulsory sometime in late 2003/early 2004. Many manufacturers had it implemented before then. I don't know about the Pajero, but I'd say it should have it.
