Looks like we get to see some of the coldsnap cards, and it appears as if wizards are pushing a fairly major snow theme. the available cards are at http://www.mtgsalvation.com/spoiler/coldsnap/

Martyr of Ashes, Jotun Owl-Keeper and Commandeer all look like extremely playable cards.

Wow, I just love Jester's Scepter and Phyrexian Soulgorger will be crazy good in drafts. I dont quite understand the snowflake mana though, is that mana from snow-covered lands or what?

I could have sworn I heard about this mechanic ages ago :o Am I imagining things or thinking of something else?

Actually, now that I think about it, it might have been in another set... The one with icy manipulator. I cant think of it, for the life of me :(

Anyway, its looking good. I'm not sure I like all the upkeeps, as that tends to lead to "rules lawyering" (me: uh, you cant attack. random scrub: Why not? me: Cos you need to sacrifice those permanents as you didnt pay their upkeep. Random scrub: Judge! me:*shudders*)

    We'll see, though ;)

I like the idea of snow mana, it makes paying for costs more flexible in constructed as it can be done with any snow land and not one of a specific colour. can't say i'm a big fan of the soulgorger, all too easy to chump block it until you are forced to sack your entire creature lineup. it needs trample badly.

Turn 3, 8/8, how could you go wrong?
Plus, all you need is some crappy creature generation e.g. Squirrel nest or something and you are on to a winner. For such little investment, he's a nice creature. And sure, you are losing a creature to its sacrifice ability, but so is your opponent, to the blocking.

the problem is that in limited, you want to curve out as much as possible.
lets say you get a turn 2 drop followed by a turn 3 soulgorger.
turn 4 you'll have to sac your 2 drop, then attack and get chumped. you will then have to play 2 creatures if you want to keep your soulgorger. turn 5 you'll have to sacrifice both other creatures to keep him, attack again and get chumped by their three drop. then you'll have to play 3 creatures to keep soulgorger for another turn. It just won't work!
