Wexford - Offaly game won in extra time???

Am I right in saying that the Wexford Offaly game yesterday was won by 1 point in extra time?

And that it was still a draw in the 70th minute??

I ask because I had a bet with Paddy Power, a Patent:

    Armagh - Fermanagh to draw
    Wexford - Offaly to draw
    Mexico - Iran to draw.

Of course Mexico slaughtered Iran so nothing coming back on that! And I was paid on the Armagh Fermanagh draw but nothing for the Wexford Offaly game... According to RTE the winning point was scored in injury time and according to Paddy Powers GAA betting rules "All bets will be settled on 60/70 minutes play respectively at the prices advertised. The term '60/70 minutes play' refers to the period of play which included time added by the match officials for stoppages, but not scheduled extra time."

So what do you think?? Do I have a case???

No. There was no extra time in the game, only injury time. But sure, chance your arm anyway;)

But it was still a draw at 70 minutes wasn't it???

Have emailed Paddy Power so waiting to hear what they say!

Do you remember someone complaining recently on Gerry Ryan about an accumalator not paying out because one of the winning teams were actually behind in the 70th minute even though they "won" the match...????

Sorry to pour water on your fire but the above is clear.

    Exactly! It is clear!

RTE said it was level in the 70th minute! Therefore I should be paid out on the draw result...?

    Or am I wrong????

    Your wrong.

I'd advise not placing any more bets until you fully understand what you are betting on.

Its no wonder you never see a bookies closing down with people like you placing bets.

Yes please, can someone explain this.

The term '60/70 minutes play' refers to the period of play which included time added by the match officials for stoppages, but not scheduled extra time

Doesn't this refer to the extra minutes played at the end of the first half for injury, stopages etc.... but 70 minutes on the clock is 70 minutes???

That's how it works for soccer bets, 90 minutes result is what they pay out on.

    Thanks bluetonic, that's very helpful!

And BTW, you do see bookies closing down. The one on Tara St a few years ago closed down!

Why are you betting at all? You obviously don't know the first thing about it?

90Mins in soccer is 90mins + injury time.
70Mins in GAA is 70 Mins + injury time.

Neither are to be taken literally - as the rules show - they are very clear delibrately for people like you.

If you want to get technical about this the 70th minute is from 69:00 to 69:59.

I'll tell you why I'm betting The Monster, simple answer, to win money, which I did...

..on that patent! It was 7 lines and with my draw on the Fermanagh match paying out at 9-1.... well, you do the sums as you're so obviously good with fugures!

Nice payout sudzs. Pity about the injury time point from Wexford.

golden rule with betting is understand what you are doing - this is not the case here

    Oh right...

Imagine how much money I'd win if I DID understand what I was doing!

    LOL :D

I'd say you've brightened a few peoples Monday in Paddy Power alright raising your query.

I might drop them a mail to see if they'll settle a bet for me, I had a few bob on a horse there on Saturday, he was winning with a furlong to go, only finished second in the end - still worth a pop I suppose.

    Fingers crossed.

And here's a little tip for ya! Try backing eachway next time!!! LOL :D:D:D

It was a 4 horse race so wasn't paying out for any places. Don't be so presumptuous.

Luckily I also layed the horse to lock in some profit either way.

    Lucky indeed!

It's a wonder your bookies hasn't shut down!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 992 ✭✭✭mchurl

Sudzs you are way wrong here, any bet is clearly for all the normal time of a match, which includes the injury time added on, so your bet is a loser.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,832 ✭✭✭Waylander

You are also wrong about the soccer. It is 90 mins + injury time that the bookies pay out on. You do not have a chance of getting money out of Paddy Power for the Wexford Offaly bet.

Sorry you don't have a case.
