What We Know / News on the Upcoming Season

    * Season 3 launches on October 4th 2006, starting with what Cuse and Lindelof call a "mini-season" of 6 new episodes, running up to November 15th, ending with a mini cliffhanger. The show will then take a 3 month long break until February 2007, when the season returns with a remarkable 17 all-new episodes which will run uninterrupted until the season finale in May 2007. (Source: May 26th Podcast) [1] (Source: wikipedia.com) [2]

    * The Lost Producers have announced that there will be no reruns next year, only a 3 month break (yes, it sounds long) for ABC's new show Day Break.

    * It is rumoured that the first episode will be called "Him". This will act as a cliff-hanger as the identity of the one referred to as him will be revealed. Presumably, as LOST goes, at the end of the episode. It is rumoured to be a character we have seen before. Whether in a flashback or real time is unknown. Also, a main question in the first episodes will be "Why Jack, Sawyer and Kate?".

    * According to an interview with Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof [3] and according to the May 26th Podcast season three will have more focus on The Others, introduce new characters and romance and interpersonal relationships will blossom.

    * The four-toed statue is a lead to Season 3 where there will be attention to an archaeological theme and to the people who were on the island before the DHARMA Initiative's arrival in the late 1970s.

    * Kimberley Joseph will return to her role as Cindy

    * The monster will definitely be back in season 3.

    * Michael Emerson, who portrayed Henry Gale in Season 2, will become a regular member of the LOST cast in Season 3 [4].

    * We will see some "background" survivors who are described as:
o Female, 30s, with leadership qualities
o Female, early 20s, very attractive
o Male, Latino, early 20s, handsome, mysterious quality

    * Harold Perrineau is not a regular actor in next season. He will be back as a guest star like Walt did in Season 2

    * The growth of Malcolm David Kelly (Walt) will be addressed in the 3rd season

    * Libby will be back in some flashbacks

This should be interesting. I don't think it's Fenry though. Who have we seen in flashbacks that would fit the bill?

Thank Fcuk for that. They're taking our Mike, and they can keep him.

Does your name stand for TOOKmahBOY?

It'll be interesting to see Libby back in flashbacks as well. I reckon she had some kind of connection to Dharma/Hanso and was put on flight 815 to infiltrate the island. Yes, Desmond did bring down the plane but it was heading over the island anyway, on a detour caused by the radios being banjaxed. They were 1000 miles away from the island when that happened, too far away and too early for the system failure in the hatch to have anything to do with it.

And we'll have Cindy back too, presumably now brainwashed/drugged into being a good little Other. Can't wait to see some of the island's history as well and find out more about the 4-toed statue.

Air hostess from the tail section who was taken by the others right before Shannon got shot.

    Begone!

Cindy was the airhostess that ended up with the Tailies. While they were all travelling to the Fusies' side of the island, she just disappeared.

    Dum dum DUM!!

I'd say it's Jim Robinson, of Neighbours fame.

She was also girlfriend to Gary Troup, author of "Bad Twin" (which features the Widmore Corporation and Hanso; Hanso took out press ads in the US to discredit the book's information on them). The foreward to "Bad Twin" speaks of the relationship between Troup and the Flight 815 stewardess. He also (at least according to pre-crash interviews with Troup on Youtube.com) appears to be, in terms of the show, the fat guy who was sucked into the engine at the start of the pilot.

Good to have her back. Other shows would ditch its 'redshirts' with a passing mention explaining their absense. I like that Lost cares more about the fans' memories than usual TV series do. I wonder if they'll do the Troup connection on-screen, or is its level of a tie-in not to be dwelt on much beyond the manuscript.

That, of course, being the reason he was in Australia, living his double life. Maybe Lucy got stung in the neck by a bee (again) or had changed actresses (again) etc.

Still not great but far better than S2. Atleast this will keep the momentum going for the latter part of the series

3 month break sounds grim though

Great to see Cindy back. Another character that I thought had been wasted. As previously mentioned, she was once in the ITV series Cold Feet, as well as starring in Home and Away aaaages (best Nikki BB voice, that) ago. The girl gets around. And Fenry too will be a great addition to the cast.

I doubt if Alan Dale will be 'Him'. I'd be more inclined to think of it being John Terry, aka Dr. Jack's dad. Remember when Jack saw him in Episode 4 of Series 1? Was he really on the island.

Who was Cindy in Home and Away? I don't remember her having a big role - certainly wasn't one of the main characters. Think it'll be good to have her back in a larger role, especially considering in the non-show backstory she was also the sometime-girlfriend of Gary Troup, author of "Bad Twin". (Still a question of whether he is among the survivors or not - his interviews don't match up with the guy who was sucked into the engine in "Pilot", so he could be alive among the non-named survivors, if they ever wanted to include him. Potential there, considering he knows a lot about Hanso and Widmore, a copy of his manuscript is on the beach and the relationship with Cindy.

"Him" could also be Locke's dad. Dramatically, if Anthony Cooper is (and we're pretty sure he is) the original Sawyer, then our Sawyer learning this will open up lots of potential conflict. I agree Jack's father is another likelihood - definitely isn't Fenry. (Glad, too, he's around for a permanent stint in s3 - if he isn't nominated for a Supporting Actor Emmy, I'll be very surprised.)

A quick imdb on Cindy's actress reveals she played "Joanne Brennan" in Home and Away back in 1996. I used to watch it as a kid, but can't say I remember the character at all.

This was to distinguish between Real Henry (who crashed in the balloon) and Fake Henry who appears to be quite a senior Other. And it's a fan joke which appeared on several forums. I wouldn't get worked up over it.

Don't recognise that name at all; probably a bit part that ran a few weeks, like a counsellor, or someones nasty alcoholic mother from Yabbie Creek requiring their children to be fostered out/run away from home...
