    It's always been ridiculous. A major tax on the right to buy your own home. But that said - it's not really a humanities issue is it? This probably belongs in Accommodation/Property

    Stamp Duty - Is it not ridiculous?
    It's worth noting that if the government got rid of stamp duty the price of houses would probably rise by the equivalent percentage.

    The Athiest is right. Its better that the gov gets the money then just developers.
