Sky Plus install

    Hi

I am upgrading my standard sky box to a sky plus with multiroom. At the minute my dish is at the back of the house with the existing cable run into the attic through the factia and connected into a cable i got ran by builder before plastering was done. With sky coming tuesday (hopefully) I was wondering would there be an extra charge if they were to run the cable through the factia at the back through the attic and out the factia at the front then down the outside wall as opposed to slinging it over the roof from the back to the front and then down the wall.

I was going to put a pull rope in but unfortunately couldn't secure a big enough ladder.

If anybody could let me know that would be great.

    Thanks

Assuming you ordered it thru sky, expect a charge (if they do it at all).

I believe sky have a standard cable allowance, & anyfink after that, is a couple a squids for every xtra metre.

If you're doing it with your friendly neighbourhood sky agent tho, they might just let you away with it :D

Sorry to say that sky installers rarely go into attics

Correct. I recently got multiroom and they refused to go into the attic, said they weren't insured.....

Also, they just ran a second cable from the receiver dish and drilled through the wall, not a particularly tidy job.

They also insisted that I had a phone line at the location of the second box. I just ran a loose cable from the hall into the bedroom to get him to complete the install and then I re-routed the cable through the attic after he left.

Also, if you don't have a phoneline in your original sky box they will probably start mailing you to say you need one. Originally it was not in the contract but the new contract for multiroom states that the phone must be connected to all sky boxes.

    Update

Got it installed today. Engineer clipped cable to gutter the whole way around. Looks grand. Everything working and on time.

Got to start playing with it now
