    am i right in thinking this will work just at a slower rate?

    Assuming the Mac mini's RAM is from a G4 model, it should work, and slow to PC2700 speeds.
    *IMPORTANT* -- This is also assuming the iMac G5 is NOT one of the later models with DDR2 memory!

    Dunno why you'd do that, though -- RAM prices ain't that high...
