It's not that simple, it's something you have to study, if you want to play blues guitar, take a listen to hendrix, jimmy page, peter green & try to work some of their stuff out, of you want to play metal, get satrianis' surfin' with alien and the tab book to go with it, try listen to some malmsteen, learn as many different scales as you can, the harmonic minor and the dorian are especially cool but it takes time,

    good luck!

check out http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/guitar_scales.php for any scale you will need, in any position and any key!
You will not learn to shred very well on acoustic so if you dont have an eletric buy one!
Feel free to mail me at libriumbum@yahoo.co.uk if you want me to tab out some nice licks/scales and give you some advice on theory and technique to get you into the whole improv solong thing.
