If Apple was to acquire Nintendo, a friendly takeover or merger would be more likely. In the merger scenario, Apple might have a chat with Nintendo and convince them to agree to form a new company. Still, the viability of a merger is low. Now may be a bad time to adopt Nintendo -- Apple would do better to wait a year or two to see how the Wii does.

    Nintipod :)

lol, could you imagine that. kinda not sure whether it would be a good or bad thing for ninty to join apple. i surpose it could help their console development and beef up the next consoles a bit.

And possibly go someway to providing some decent games for Mac's.

Can't really see what Nintendo (or Nintendo consumers) would gain from this, aside from better penetration in the west (with Apple's western marketing skills) and the option to start over pricing your hardware because that's what Apple consumers are used to.

    Apple surely. Especially with iPods.

Some kind of wii / mac mini hybrid. Boot into osx or console.

Could be interesting. It certainly would be bold. However, I think that the japanese sensibilities and tradition of Nintendo would make an uneasy partnership with an american company like Apple.

Maybe some kind of partnership deal might work (both companies staying on their own though) - they could jointly work on some products and/or projects. The styling of the DS lite and the Wii are inline with Apple's. However, I think this is more flattery by imitation, and Nintendo finally making some clever styling decisions to combat sony.

The article itself says "Apple's market cap is $51.7bn (Nintendo's is $23.1bn)", so that should give you an idea of the size difference, I guess.

talk about speculation apple setup a games devision and all of a sudden its jumps to they want to buy nintendo. Nintendo are way too big of a company for apple to buy and its not like nintendo is struggling and needs to be bailed out. its like saying apple is thinking of buying nokia because they had an itunes phone.

As someone said on another forum. A 100 year old Japanese company with the traditions of Nintendo is unlikely to sell to any Western Company.

Ms buyout was refused, why would they accept an Apple buy out?
