New to modding the xbox and just this week finished a soft mod and sticking in a new hd. I have unleash x as my dash but it looks like almost everything I want to do can be done from within xbmc so does anyone know if i can get this to startup instead of the dash or even auto load once the dash is started ?

Yeah I'm pretty sure it can be used as a dash.

    Yes it can.

I'm not sure on softmods, what dictates which dash is loaded on boot?

If you find that out, its easy to do teh rest

    Softmod info:
with the most popular softmods the dashboard executable is E:\dashboard\default.xbe

so all you have to do is replace that default.xbe with a default.xbe that is a shortcut to your xboxmediacentre default.xbe (usually located in e:\apps\xbmc\default.xbe). You can create that shortcut default.xbe by following the instructions for option 1 or option 2 in the guide that ciaranC linked to.

I'd reccomend that you test the shortcut first by ftping it to the xbox and clicking on it in the unleashx file explorer, if it worked it should open XBMC regardless of where you put it. Then overwrite the unleashx default.xbe with your new one but you should keep a backup of unleashx too or copy the dashboard folder to E:\apps so that you can run unleashx from XBMC if you ever need to use it

Can be done with EVtool also, if you use Evox.

Or just do the very simple thing of copying XBMC to your C drive on the Xbox then rename evoxdash.xbe to evoxbash.xbe.backup and then rename the default.xbe of XBMC to evoxdash.xbe

That's what I did and XBMC is now my dash.
