Googling doesn't do me any good on this one, so some local knowledge would be appreciated

I'm looking to get the light-seals on my Olympus OM repaired or replaced, and since I'm going to be in Waterford for the weekend, is there anyone in Waterford City that does repairs of this nature?

Failing this, I'll hit that place on Dame St, but the thought of another weekend going by with no action on this bugs me... I'm this close to getting a new body on the 'bay and being done with it

Think its 14 quid for a day return ticket to Dublin.

    ;)

Did you try the camera shop down on the quay? Though they may just want to send it back to Olympus.

    Hennebrys?

Lol, don't bother! He won't do it, or he'll charge an extortionate amount if he does. Because he's the only camera shop in Waterford. Which gives him the right to do anything...

Mulligans don't do repairs anymore. Sam Mcaulies might, but they'd charge a lot. Best off bringing it to Dublin, Limerick or Cork I'd say!

Beans forget local knowledge, you need a specialist to repair your camera, dont bring it to some shop that will get some cowboy thats handy at these things.

Theres a guy in Dublin in PRS, Portabello but he is always really busy and you'd be waiting ages for it.

You should get a full overhaul on the camera and get the seals replaced. I would try contacting Olympus in the UK for more info.

If you dont get anything from them send it to these people in the USA, their overhaul is $99

Light seals on an OM? At least *try* it yourself, I repaired mine on a praktica.
Buy a light seal repair kit on eBay, they sell the foam bits to go around the door and so on, they might even have kits especially for the OM. Save yourself a fortune, at least try it..!

Looks like Waterford could benefit from some competition on the camera-shop front?

Thanks for the idea cianclarke, someone else suggested this over the weekend and I think there may be something in it. I'm sure a quick google will tell me what I need to know to repair the seals. And if I get it wrong, no harm done as it's unusable at the mo!

Seems to cover the basics for a whole hep-load of old classic cameras, and probably a good resource for anyone else with this kind of problem. I've been quoted up to 150€ for this work and it looks to be easily DIY
