Guild Wars is non-subscription. It's nowhere near as good as WoW but it's not bad.

Honestly, the subscription for WoW is worth it if you normally play a lot of games.

WoW is well worth the subscription charge. As mentioned Guild Wars has no subscription charge, it's a recent game.

Knight Online is free. So is MapleStory. Oh, and Runescape is somewhat free.
