Somehow, and I don't know how, the connection on my Toshiba A60 laptop where the charger plugs in has broken - the pin has broken off and is lodged in the charger connection.

Where on earth would I bring this to be repaired, if anywhere?

Guy I know had this problem recently. Had to send it back to HP, at a cost of €300. Hasn't received it back yet.

I found it hard to believe he couldn't have it repaired here!

    Not your ornery onager

The actual part is very cheap to buy from the likes of maplin and a doddle to solder in. Similarly I've lost count of how many laptop power adaptors I've fixed with solder / sellotape as they seem to wear a lot on the rubber ends.

There a place on the north circular road that fix laptops in any case. But I'd do it myself!

Quite a few computer repair places will sort that out for you.
As mentioned above it may cost alot but hopefully not as much as €300 depending on where you try.

If its under warranty , ring BMS in walkinstown they are Toshiba service center. If there is a part recall then you might get it done for free (I heard in some causes faulty parts that break easily are replaced free)

I doubt it's under warranty. I don't think the A60 was affected by a known issue involving the DC inlet - may still be worth a shot though. ;)

    Instructions on dismantling: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA65/satA65_1.htm

    ... otherwise, BMS: http://www.bms.ie/service.htm , 01 - 4505277
I can't imagine they'd be the cheapest - can anyone suggest anywhere / anyone else?

Still the same amount of effort as a cheaper maplin part.

Still the same amount of effort as a cheaper maplin part.

Whats the story with the maplin parts. How do you know what part will fit what laptop?? If i knew this i'd definatly go for the cheaper part. the great thing about that website is it tell you if it is the right part.

Any help on this would be great.
