Maynard Ducks in artane?

Is there any particular reason for 2 ducks to be in the middle of artane? I came home from work yesterday and found 2 outside my house - looked like a male and a female, very similar, but one was speckled brown, the other was an oily-bluish. Both had a white collar. BTW, I dont actually know if they were maynard ducks, but…

BTW, I dont actually know if they were maynard ducks, but that name sprung to mind when I saw them.
