Company I was working closed down last month and moved shop anyway got most of my offices equipement for a knock down price . Set them up last month and everything was working fine . The old laser jet printer (you should see the size of it) kick the bucket their last week so I bought a new one there over the weekend .

Anyway I am trying to install the drivers for the printer but it says you do not have sufficient privilages or something please contact IT department etc .

Finding it hard to track down some of the old IT employees , It looks like my existing username and password is only set up for something call "Power User"

I tried changing my username so as to have "full control" but a had no joy wont allow me.

Is there anyway of changing the usernames group or setting up a new one as I wanna get this printer up and running preferably without have format everything and reinstalling all the programmes again .

    Any help would be great?

What operating system are you running?

Its not a big deal really you just need to reset your admin pw, depending on the OS, you can get CDs that do it for you.

I dont think it should be a problem posting the link here but Ill wait for an admin to agree just in case.

Thanks guys for the help , its windows xp professional i'll have a look at the link . Just looking at about reseting the admin password it will allow be to reset this presumably because the do not allow to be changed was selected without any discs/programmes now under control panel / admin tools / administrators . However when I say reset it says you may loose work etc or windows will lock some information so you cannot get at it again. Anyone know what they might be or does it not really effect.

    Thanks

Edit : Thanks just look at that link I think i'll use that windows password revealer and avoid any risk of losing files . are they legit just donty like uploading my files or passwords to third party company . anyone use them before thanks again.
