My problem is i was made a job offer today(well thats not the problem) and at the end of my benefits it says car or car allowance. now nothing had been mentioned about a car at any stage before now and i dont have a full licence. Can i take the car allowance and say get a moped or something that i dont need a full licence for?

The job doesn't require me to travel at all, i think i get the car allowance because i will be on call 1 week out of 4. The job is in england btw.

be aware you will most likely have to pay benefit in kind for the car

Make sure you read the small prints on the benefits. On my contract it says something along the lines of "Entitled to partake in relevant car scheme". Unfortunately at my level, there is no "relevant" car scheme.

Also, you might get away with not having a full licence. For people who are entitled to company cars where I work, the conditions say they need a full licence or a second provisional. I'm not sure how strict they are on your provisional having to be your second provisional.
