    as a kid i remember a shop in georges street and one in parnell street sold these little minature monkeys
    is there such a place that sells them in ireland anymore?

    Probably marmosets or cappuchins either way they don't make good pets. Better off supporting a rescue like the monkey rescue in Wicklow or monkey world in dorset uk.

    You can get monkies but they need to be kept in pairs or groups & a house setting is not good for them. A lot of monkies come under the cites licencing scheme. Marmosets are the only primate you can keep in the uk without needing a DWA licence (dangerous wild animals) Monkies need very special care & they often bite & cause their owners to need lots of stitches they are WILD & need to be respected. Do a search for monkeybird they have lots of marmoset keepers & there is lots of advice on the site.
