PC connection to TV

Got a new TV today, has connection for PC. Anyone got any recommendations for making the most of it. Getting broadband soon, so I’ll be able to browse the web, etc.

    - Must get a wireless mouse and keyboard. Would like a keyboard with a ball on it so I dont have to use a mouse. Any recommendations?
    - Want to get some kind of Media Centre software for images and music, any recommendations?
    - Is it worth upgrading the components in the PC to make use of TV, ie, recording programmes, etc.

    Thanks

    Joe

If the TV has a dedicated PC DVI or VGA input then all you need to do is plug it into the PC it should detect it as a monitor. You may want to consult the manual to see what resolutions are supported to get an idea which is the optimal one to pick.

I cant vouch for it myself but the Microsoft MCE keyboard is wireless and has a trackball built into it, sounds like the sort of thing you want. There are plenty of reviews around the net on it. However it does not come with the IR receiver that you need to operate it, so you would have to buy that on top of it.

Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 frankly is the bee's knees will handle all that you ask for and do a lot more.

All you need is an MCE Tuner and can turn it into a PVR & record TV, pause live TV etc. with WinXP MCE as your OS of course.

Downside to the above recommendations is the price but they'll tie together seamlessly.
