Ok was on a couple of days ago and took advice I got here but I thought I'd ring around the insurance companies.

    I am female
    I am 26
I intend to have Provisional A licence when I am sorted
The bike is Vespa PX 200cc

The quote I got from AON was 2474.00!!!
The quote I got from teh dealer was 1300.00

Are Aon having a laugh? :(

Yes they are and its at your expense. I bet they're just rolling around on the floor laughing and trying to stuff as much money into their already inflated wallets.

That really is taking the piss , I can't believe they want that much from a 26 year old on a 200cc moped.

I dont think it should be that high. Phone them back and see if its a fully comp quote. The PX200 lists as a group 4 with them, check that as well to make sure theyre not rating you for the wrong bike. The quote you got could be for a 25yr old, if you gave your dob and you havent turned 26 yet. Definitely check all your details with them again.

Erm, did the dealer say to you "ooh id say you would be looking at in or around €1300" or did the dealer look it up on a sheet of paper with various age/bike groups on it and say "yup, says here €1300"??

I ask because if it is the latter, then take that, because that is a Dealer quote through AON. If you buy a bike in most dealers, they can organise insurance (with AON) directly there and then. Should be able to do it on second hand bikes too.

Nope they dont as far as I have heard. Aon is part of the Axia group now I think.

As sugested, ring them back and give all your details again. By default, Aon will quote you, your fully comp price. You have to say you want third party most of the time. Remember its not Third party fire and teft. Its just third party. There are things that will bring up the price as well. Such as where you are living.

Aon are robbing b@stards?? They're *all* robbing b@stards. Still, Aon undercut CN for me last week. One quick call back to CN, and their quote dropped by €400. Not too shabby. :)

This is exactky the kind of b0ll0cks that drives me insane. Did your isk profile (upon which your premium is supposed to be based) suddenly change because you rang Aon and got a better quote? Of course not. They were simply robbing you blind the first time and are now robbing you a little less blind, but still robbing you nonetheless. Insurance companies are parasitic slime. They cry wolf about high cost of claims etc. (which no doubt is true to an extent) but then show their true robbing colours by suddenly dropping 400 squids off a quote. They are still making money out of you, so the 400 was just a bit of extortion thrown on top of an already profitable premium. W@ankers the lot of 'em.
