Can you bring a bike onto the luas, or even a fold up bike?Just wondered if there was an official stance.

No, but you should be allowed to on off peak services.

I was thinking of using a Brompton on the Luas, very very small, attached is an animated .gif of the bike being folded, bear in mind the wheels are 16inches, to give you an idea of scale, basically, you can hold it like a large shopping bag.

I'd like to see this condition in print..

On UK services, the Brompton is an exception, because.. its folded size is unique , no other folding bike comes close.

    http://www.luas.ie/faq/index.asp?head=12 took about 5 seconds

As in common with all other operators fold up bikes are permitted, am aware of several people who take advantage of this, no problems reported

Bikes should be allowed at off-peak times. It would be very handy for a lot of people.

Hmm... what's this on the front of a bus...

I suppose it would damage the aesthetics of the Luas

    Edit: here's how they work...

they have them bike racks on the lynx public buses in orlando florida, any time i seen them being used it held up the bus by no more than a minute, granted there is a greater frequency of buses so i never saw anyone have to miss a bus due to a full rack, could only imagine the chaos if DB fitted them to their fleet!:D

Not very pedestrian friendly, but then again, neither is the front of a bus.

I don't think the RPA have anything about bikes in thier bye-laws.

Was on the Luas home one evening when a group of lads(about the ages of 13/14) got on, one with a bike. The driver said over the intercom that no bikes are allowed on the tram, even tho it was about 8pm and wasnt near packed. The guy just threw the bike out of the door and he stayed on. I found that kinda funny.:o
