    Hi,

I have been summonsed over an event that happened last october. I am due to go to court on the 24th of July. This is smack bang in the middle of my holidays abroad. I was just curious is it possible/a common occurence that it could be postponed to a later date by any chance ?
And just for the record the charge in question is intoxification in a public place. Also I am not the type of person who has my head in the clouds.. I am 100% remorseful and know that it is quiete serious but the thaught of changing the date crossed my mind so I said i'd post and see.. I will see a solicitor as soon as possible..
Also, I acknowledge that information given is not legal advice, and I won't rely on it as such.

    Thanks,

    Hakko

Just call the registrar and see what s/he says. I hope you're not looking for any legal advice in here.

Hmmmm, If you speak with the Garda that arrested you and your solicitor they can explain to the court but most judges wouldnt be happy with it.

I once did this and the judge threatened to find us both in contempt as we dont have the authority to exlclude a person from a court date.

I dont know about calling the registrar, I rarely summons people and have never experienced this. But once again I see why summons are a messy way of doing business.

There is certain judge down in Waterford who hates people seeking adjourments. He goes mad when people or Gardai seek them. He is known for striking out cases where the Gardai are not ready.
