The rake is the cut that the tournament organiser takes, generally between 5 and 15%. So for example in €100 + €10 game, the €100 goes into the prize pool, and the €10 is the rake (called registration for tourneys) taken by the organiser. Total cost to player is €110.

WPEX.com is the only rake-free site. I don't know if sites accept laser. Most accept VISA though.

There are other rake free sites but they charge a monthly charge instead (boo!). One thing to be conscious of is that the quality of play on rake free sites may be higher than on random sites so the money saved in rake could be lost in losing out on beating easier players.

Theres also whats known as 'Rake Back'.
This means if you play a certain amount of poker and reach your target you get some of your reg fees back!.
Some users here have rake back deals in their signatures. Not me though im not that clever!.

I used to dislike the idea of rake back then i saw the light and now i like the idea!:)

There are a lot of rakeback deals that don't require a minimum - or at least not very much as the minimum.

You sign up through somebody who is offering a rakeback deal. So say, you want to play on betfair, you find a website (or person) offering rakeback on betfair and either download the software through them or use a code they give you when you are signing up so that betfair pay them commission for signing you up.

As they get paid part of your rake for having signed you up - they pay you part of that back again. Some people are reliable and others aren't. (Obvious Hint: try and find somebody reliable!)

Rakeback is only available on certain sites and only on newly created accounts. Some affiliates have a minimum amount needed to be earned in a month in order to cashout, others just have a minimum amount needed to be earned over the lifetime of the account to cashout. Some only allow cashouts at the end of the month, others allow cashouts at anytime (once you have the minimum amount earned (Usually $25, which is very manageable, even at uber low stakes)

If anyone wants to send me a PM, I'll let you know everything you need to know to get started.

There's no Rakeback discussion allowed on boards.ie, hence I can't get into it here...

P.S. a good place to start looking for an affiliate is www.rakerebatereview.com. But be careful in choosing the right affiliate for you...
