backup distribution across 2 disk

    ok the offsite backup serve rhas two disk each about 400 gig and each backup is close to 30gig compressed! Whats the best way to distribute them across the two disk so ther eis the most recent backup possible available in case one of the disk fails?

    Raid 1?

    Otherwise, have a cron job (I'm assuming they're a linux / unix variant) to just copy the file over at a specified time.

    no raid unfort, i'm using a cron job at the min but i am trying to work out the best way to spread them across disks.
