I have booked a flight on Southwest Airlines from Long Island New York to Oakland CA. I am worried now that something might happen on September 11th. Has anbody else flown on September 11th in the States since 9/11? Do I have anything to worry about?

You've nothing more to worry about than any other time. Tickets will probably be a bit cheaper if anything.

I flew home to Ireland on the 23/09/01 and again on the 11/09/02 and everything was calm.

Dont be silly :) Nothing is going to happen, enjoy your flight. I flew to the US on September 11th 2002 and have on many more flights since then.

I was proberly jumping the gun since I seen United 93 yesterday. It proberly would be the safest day in the year to fly.

Nope, expect to get the magical three X's on your boarding card and the secondary search at the gate though (happened to me every time since Sept 11). I assume it's because I booked flights with a foreign credit card and not because my name is on a list of evil doers somewhere.
