    Hi.
Does anyone here do any skimboarding.I got a skimboard last year and i have the basics and one or two tricks.A popshuvit is my best. What should i try now?Should i just be trying to go further and improve my technique or what.
Also is there any fairly easy tricks i can try to learn.
    Thanks

I tried this yeeears ago, found a scimboard in my garage and ran down to the beach. I had lost it in the waves after 10minutes :o . Didnt think there where to many tricks? I would think a popshuvit would be the only viable one, there is no way you are gonna flip that thing, they suction onto the surface of the water.
I just enjoy going as far as i can. You could also try go dropknee.

I have never skimmed myself. Have only seen it on TV. Looks awesome. I don't know what a popshuvit is but the best trick I saw was a double front sommersault after hitting a wave. Unbelievable. What is a popshuvit?

A popshuvit is when you jump up and make the board spin around underneath you.The board does a 180 and then you land on it.
Endurance man what do you mean by dropknee. How did you manage to lose a skimboard as they float?
TriWannabe when you saw the somersault on tv were big waves breaking really close to the beach?

The skim board i had didnt really float, was made of very thin wood. Drop knee =

That guys is doing it on a bodyboard (my board of choice). We used to use our bodyboards and do a thing called "wave jumping". Basically we stand on the beach and just before the wave breaks we sprint up to it, skim along and hit the lip, you can get some crazy air time if you time it just right :).

I found this a lot more fun as you do it while lying down so you have a lot more control.

Id love to try the wave jumping. It looks great fun but iv never seen any beaches in Ireland where waves break in that close to the shore i suppose i could just sprint in and jump one at around knee depth and hope it works. Its worth a try anyway. Is that how you did it?

ash, what i saw was guys running in only a few inches of water, throwing board down and skimming into wave which was pretty close to beach.

Yea thats skimboarding. But in Ireland we dont get waves like that well i dont know anywhere where we do.I just go along on the bit where the wave breaks. Its still great fun though. If its a wavy day i could go around 40foot maybe a bit more which is fairly good.
