Windows Defender, Spybot or Ad-Aware will work fine for you, all free editions are available.

SpywareBlaster and Search&Destroy are two other good freebies.

Both have good block lists which prevents you from hitting a blacklist of bad sites.

    Both easy to maintain also.

Go to the freeware section at Snapfiles (http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/

and then the Security/Privacy section. Some good free anti-virus and anti-spyware stuff here. :D

Resident blacklists? i.e. blacklists as you browse or the more usual scanning of your box for strings of text matching the blacklisted websites? Both are included in Hitman Pro btw :)

Have a look at this thread

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054877370

I called it "Beating SpyWare for good" but to be honest that's slightly mis-leading. You need to constantly be on the lookout for threats.

Nice thread r3nu4l, you must be very proud! I'll venture back to it if I ever run into trouble. I'd read it now if only the page would stop loading.... :D
