spyware question

    Hi!
    Im not very computer savvy so just wanted to ask a quick question, I have AVG antivirus and some form of microsoft spyware thingy. anyway the the spyware popped up on my screen with a recommended update thing so i installed it, now my spyware has gone and i have something called Wondows Defender? Is this the same?
    sorry if this is a stupid question, but me and computers just dont mix well!

    Windows Defender is a Microsoft Anti-Spyware Program. You can read more about it here.

    No harm in installing Spybot and Ad-Aware also if something falls through Windows Defender (it was formerly MS Anti-Spyware I think, so maybe thats why it changed :) ).
