wireless connection + mac

I am trying to connect two laptops, a mac and a pc one, to the eircom wireless netopia router but just cannot do it. I know the wireless network is set up alright because the computers can locate it, however I just can't connect. This post concerns just one computer though because if I can even get one working I will be happy. Mine is an Apple mac and I would be sooo greatful if anyone could tell me what I am doing wrong.
When I select the wireless network I get a box asking me for my WEP password. I have entered the SN number on the bottom of the modem but it won't accept it, and this, according to the instructions, is what should go in there.... what am I doing wrong???
Anyone else have any experience of this, or know what to do? I tried to ring eircom the other day but they won't be open again till Tuesday and this is really doing my head in. I hate being beaten by technology, lol!!
    Thanks!!

Try doing a hard reset on the router, the kind that usually involves having to get a paperclip to push some internal button (look in the manual).

Connect to the router using a wired connection, log into the router and change the wireless security to WPA-PSK, and set your own password.

    The Jerry Adams defence:

I categorically (sp?) deny the existence of the aforementioned tree and refute any allegetitions (sp?) of having received an invitation to said tree...

    ;)

Sorry about the spelling, its gone to pot!
