VOIP to irish mobiles

    how do the voip providers (voipbuster, skype etc) compare rate wise for calls to mobiles versus using vodafone, eircom etc

    Look at the rates on their websites and you'll see. Assuming peak rates then generally "free" call providers like Voipbuster @ €0.28 per minute screw you on the mobile calls (after all someone's go to pay for all those free calls!). Eircom @ €0.23 per minute and other landline providers would be similar to each other in cost. Generally there doesn't ever seem to be much between the various normal VoIP providers and they will be the cheapest.

    Mobile -> Mobile minutes packages from various providers can actually work out the best of the lot depending on your usage habits and whether you're organised and disciplined enough to use one phone for dialling mobiles and another for dialling landlines. The reason that mobile calls will never be too cheap is that the mobile operators actually charge quite a lot to allow other networks connect calls to them.
