Not too surprised to find that the analogue channels on C-band Arabsat 26E, including CNN, came in on an 80cm, but also got the digital ones to lock.

Tried it initially without the scalar ring, but I noticed a marked reduction in number of sparklies on analogue channels when I put it on the feedhorn.

Midges hunted me before I could try out any other sats.

I assumed this was a question when I saw the title from the ICDG frontpage there, thought there'd be some "nah, not possible, too small" responses.. :D

Good work, didn't think 57cm was enough for C band -anywhere- really. And to think tele-satellite thought it was quite something that they're going to use a 1.2m for a C-band test next month

Well 1.7m is a lot more interesting and a 3.4m will get nealy everything.

It depends what satellite and channels you want to get. Getting stuff NOT available on Ku band (i.e. for South Africa, Asia or South America) will need a much bigger dish than 80cm

I presume it is one of the older 80cm Lidl dishes not a 60cm bin lid model?

I know, but I meant they thought 1.2 was remarkably small to get C band in Europe (France).

Well 1.2M is small to get much of interest.

It is like you can get Sky on a 45cm dish, but to get much else not sky and have it work in rain etc, 80cm is needed.
