Films that are better or worse on second viewing

Which films need to be watched twice and which can only be watched once?

I watched A Tale Of Two Sisters for the second time last night, and I enjoyed it more. Obviously it didn't have the same surprise at the end, but I picked up on so much more throughout the movie.
Such as, you'll notice that the father never actually speaks directly to Su-Yeon when we think she's alive
I was reluctant to rewatch Oldboy for the first time when I bought it on dvd, because it wouldn't have the same holy **** moment at the end, but I really found it just as enjoyable. I think the same could be said for all of Park Chan Wook's films, particularly the other two parts of the Vengeance trilogy.
I know a lot of people don't like rewatching certain films that have twists at the end because it won't have the same impact, but I think in a lot of them you pick up a hell of a lot more on the second viewing. "Mind" films such as Memento, The Machinist, Donnie Darko etc might not hit you in the same way when you watch them the second time, but I enjoy them more when I have a better understanding of them.

I think the reason twist based films can be better second time around is because the second time your trying to figure out 'did the twist make sense', whereas the first time you go where the film takes you, so its an entirely different experiance imo than the first time, so it can still be very enjoyable in a well made film.

Devils Advocate. Watched it the first time in the cinema and thought it was great. Then I bought it when it came out on video and realised it was really just a steaming pile of poo.

Actually it was the instigator of my "don't buy any movie you haven't already seen at least twice" policy.

(life's too short to go rewatching movies you thought were bad first time around.)

Fightclub gets better the second time around, as having seen the ending, alot of things make so much more sense, and you notice things you haven't noticed before.
like when you can see the flashes of Tyler Durden at the beginning, I never noticed that upon first viewing

Star Wars prequels actually get better upon repeat viewings as you've experienced the horror of bits that may irritate you and you can now focus on enjoying what is still undoubtedly good about the films.
