I'm going to change the os on my laptop from windows xp pro to ubuntu and am just wondering what issues I will face connecting to the college network, specfically the wireless iss network.

I'll be in the college over the summer and it would be nice to be able to connect to the network. Is anyone here on the college network using linux?

if you've managed to use Xsupplicant with a PEAP or LEAP setup you shouldn't have any bother...but it does take some playing with it under linux with most drivers to work smoothly...

Thanks boss that's the beat on the street I was getting. Only one way to find out if it works. I'll keep the dual boot option just in case (unless I delete it on installation!!!).

i'd keep the dual boot option tbh, i've Xsupplicatiant running for myself, but it took some playing to work and it helped to have a windows install handy to check i wasn't screwing up(turned out the driver was flaky for it[intel 2200b/g]...)....

Any chance you could share the config file? I spent a good while trying to get it working with my NDISwrapper'd card to no avail, I just resorted to a PCMCIA Cisco card I have

i wasn't using the NDISwrapper, haven't tried anything with that....... using the native http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/ driver...(and alas the install that i had for that has since been formated for freebsd 6.0...)
