    Hi

About to purchase dell laptop 6400 series, any independent advice appreciated ?

Getting 1Gb RAM - is there much difference in performance between
    1024MB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM (1x1024) [add € 36.30 or € 2/month1]
    1024MB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2x512) [Included in Price]

Video card - will use laptop for watching DVDs while travelling, but not for playing games very much. I presume the Media Accelerator 950 will cover my needs?

Intel® Media Accelerator 950 Graphics Up to 256MB shared graphics memory [Included in Price]
    128MB ATI® MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1300 graphics card, PCI-Express x16 [add € 145.20 or € 6/month1]
    256MB ATI® MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 graphics card, PCI-Express x16 [add € 242.00 or € 9/month1]

Performance-wise, no. It's more that, should you choose to upgrade the RAM from the 2x512 configuration, you will have at least 1 stick (512) left over (Assuming there's only two slots).

Intel® Media Accelerator 950 should cover your requirements.
