Just found out today that my Sam of 11 years old has diabetes.
Has anyone experienced this in a dog before?
Is it easy to get under control?
Any dietry pointers to help me out a bit.
We`re both devastated as we`ve had him since he was 8 weeks old but the vet says he should have another 5/6 years left in him if we get this under control.
    Any help at all appreciated.
    Thanks
    Richie

Sorry to hear this hun - my friend has a diabetic dog & he has to have his blood checked several times a day & gets insulin injections twice a day & he has to have his food carefully monitored at all times. Holidays are hard for my friend as she has to be careful about who looks after her baby. Could you handle giving the injections?

I will point this thread out to be friend & see if she can offer you more adivce.
