He could be lost now, put posters up in your area. Cats in a new house should be kept in for a few weeks before you let them out sometimes they need to stay in for longer.

cats are known to travel in circles til they find their place of origin so try lookin at the old house first...

also when you do get it back, try doing what we did keep it on a lead and you have to mind it outside til it gets used to the place..
ours are still here after 2 years...#

sounds crazy i know but it works

A good tip for helping your cat adjust to your new home, is to rub butter on its paws when in the new house. Apparently, it will lick it off its paws, and thus clean the rest of itself, and then that makes it more comfortable with its new surroundings.

Worked for our Beenz! Even with his basket placed at the top of the landing!

Butter is made from milk, as most cats are lactose intolerant this wouldn't be the way to go!

Buttering the cat's paws makes her wash them, and a washing cat is generally a happy, at-home cat.

    Ask your vet for FELIWAY
It's a spray that contains feline pheremones. You spray it in the house (or the car or carrying basket) so they think they have been there before.
We used it when we brought three cats over from England and they settled really quickly

Considering the amount you are going to rub on the cats paws (less than a slice of bread's spread worth), I don't think that is going to be an issue! :p

I have to say, I know its an old wives tale, but we've always done it with our cats. (rubbed butter on their paws) we've not had any run away yet.

Wether butter works or not it's best to keep the cat indoors anyway.
