    I'd get in touch with colleges if you want to go that route see what they have on offer and the requirements for the course - i think its usually points from your LC plus points for your portfolio.

    You could also to a VEC - not sure if thats what they're still called, been a while since I studied! Anyway its a course that would be run usually in your local school/community type centre as a sort of inbetween school and college course - to get your portfolio together...

    The two that srping to mind are the degree course by DIT (the one I was in) in Temple Bar and the diploma by the College of Art and Design in Dun Laoghire.
    It's been a long time since I was in DIT so I can't advise you on what it's like now but I think melemelikimaka (sp?) is in it now.

    <wipes tear from eye>

    I'm flattered you think I'm studying photography, I'm infact studying engineering :p . But yes there is a 3 or 4 year photography degree in DIT, but the general view is that a degree only tells you what you can learn yourself, its not that much help when you try get a job, its your pictures in the end, just get out snapping, come on the odd boards.ie photo trip and learn from others as we all do here, i cannot begin to explain how much i have learnt in the last year, mostly from this forum

    At this stage I'd say get your hands on a camera of any description, maybe get a couple books from a library and do lots of reading online, look at other people's pictures and go out and start taking photos! Then in a couple years you can see about doing a course.

    If you're very lucky maybe your school art department will have some sort of photography element, so it's always worth asking there.
