I am looking to get a web cam, but have a question about the zoom feature.

The one I'm looking at has 10x zoom which sounds pretty good. But how does the zoom work? I've never used one before. Do you have to press a button on the cam or do you use the keyboard or mouse to zoom in and out? ?

    Many thanks !

I don't think I've ever seen a webcam with optical zoom.
They usually have digitial zoom instead.
So there's never any lens moving in and out.

A webcam may have a resolution of 800 x 600, but has you "zoom" in, the resolution decreases. Unless you're getting a real expensive security camera,
I'd say you're looking at digital zoom only.

    regards,
    Owen

    Hey Owen,

Thanks for that. I would like to be able to be make the web cam picture zoom in and out on me or other objects. And when it says its got a 360 degree range does that mean I can remotely control it to pan around the room say??

Whats the difference between optical zoom and digital zoom?

    Thanks again :)
