    HI All,

Posted this in home entertainment by accident...

Can someone let me know what sort of service I should expect from SKY TV installers?

Reason I ask is that my living room has all concealed wiring etc so I would need the installer to be accomodating when putting the gear into my current setup.

Can you pay them extra to run coax to other rooms/ conceal wiring etc ?

Saw some posts about drip loops - what are these ?

    All help appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Steven

A drip loop is a loop of cable below where the engineer has drilled your wall to bring the cable inside the house.
The cable on the external wall runs down from the dish, clipped to the external wall, but when the cable reaches the drill hole it doesnt go directly into the hole as this may lead to moisture( rain) running in on the cable inside the wall to internal wall. So the engineer extends the cable an inch or 2 below the drill hole and then back up into the hole so that the cable is coming up from below the hole, thus rain cant flow upwards into the hole.
    Hope this makes sense

As for the internal stuff you want done, depends on the engineer and/or how busy he is.

Thanks for that, certainly something to look out for. NTL definitely didn't do that when I paid them for the extension to the bedroom

    I like that sig :D

I'd imagine the installer wouldn't have any problems accomadating you, so long as s/he's not pushed for time and it won't take ages. The guy who installed mine was very nice, he put the dish where requested even though it was fairly akward, and he also left me loads of co-ax cable should I need to move the STB.

Just ask pleasantly, offer tea and biscuits during the job etc. :)
