trying to setup a netgear router on my fathers eircom broadband and he doesn't know what the username/password is to make the connection. I checked Eircom's support centre for the router and it states that the username is eircom and password is broadband1, however, when i go to 192.168.1.254 i can see that the username is eircom@eircom.net....now i presume that since the username is generic then so to is the password. Is it? What is the correct password, or will i need to phone them up in order to find out?

It used to be "eircom" and "broadband", but they don't even seem to check user/password anymore, any user/pass seems to work now (though this is on a fixed IP line). If it can't connect, then its most likely a line fault.

that broadband1 password is for connecting to the broadband, not accessing the router's configuration section. i don't know what it is though. ring them and find out

yeah, i'm going to have to ring them i think.
It is possible to setup two routers on the same broadband line with Eircom isn't it?

The netgears config is @ 192.168.0.1
while the Netopia config is 192.168.1.254

You will only be able to have one router physically connected to the phone line.
