Not this year, bubs #2 arrived.

Make sure you have pre booked tickets, its all ticket on Sunday and NO exceptions. When the weather is nice its glorious, the paddock is the best, up close and most of the mechanics are dead friendly

I have my tickets already and I've been there twice already. Good show, great to see stuff on the track instead of museums.

A guide on prices Junkyard, I read somewhere it's mega expensive, where abouts in the UK is it.
OH spotted your link, 155, mmm.

Its not expensive Dubtom, there's a lot to see and its a great atmosphere. Every type of car you can think of and a few planes too! The best way to get there is to fly into Southampton and hire a car, its about 40 minutes drive from the airport. You have to get your tickets in advance though. I stay in the Holiday Inn in Southampton, its about 60 Sterling per night.

we fly into Gatwick and hire a car, 80 minute drive down past Brighton, camp in or around Chichester which is a very picturesque little town, with friendly people, the camp sites will generally be full of people also going to the show, great for sharing a beer and talking oily bits

I haven't been to Goodwood yet ....but would love to go at some stage!

I've taped the event for the last two years (it's usually screen c. Sept on ITV) and it' always a joy to watch.

One of these days ! ;)

As a matter of interest, do any Irish-reg classics take part in the show?

not many Irish cars, its more an historic racing car meeting, with lots of classics on stands around the show... it just huge

Thats the Goodwood Revival, held later in the summer than The festival of Speed

no thats both, I've been twice, I know what its about for Gods sake :-)

The festival is a hillclimb on the grounds of Lord March who owns the Goodwood estate, circuit, airport and racing course, for historic and intersting mpotors, its themed annually, this year will be around the 100 anniversary of the first GP. The revival is a circuit event at the very historic Goodwood track, which ended stiling moss's career and Bruce McLaren's LIFE!!!!!

I've been to both the Festival of Speed and the Revival and I'd say the Revival is better as it actual racing where the festival is only a hill climb and isn't as competitive, but that's just my opinion.

Apparently at the revival you can get chips from a traditional-style chipper avn, served to you in newspaper.

6 of one to be fair, both have fantastic sideshows which perhaps teh festival nudges. The hill climb used to be much more competitive but a bloke was killed in a lightweight e-type about 5 years ago and its mostly show now.

the revival has great racing, a nice touch is free entrance to the paddock if you wear period clobber... there is racing here, but teh same problem is creeping in here, they are maybe too competitive considering the value of the vehicles, literally and historically. in my opinion, 2 very basd things are happening, first cars ae being modified to make them competitive, i'd prefere to see a 250F going at 250F speeds and handling/not handling like a 250F. Secondly replicas or new runs(!!) are being allowed to compete, I certainly have no interest in seeing a 250F built for millions with modern tech competing... anyway its a problem the historic racing community is battling with.

Go to both if you can afford it, the revival if it track action your after and the festival if your an anorach.
