Dryer Ventilation?

I just been given a tumble dryer from a friend who no longer has need for it. I've put it in the garage but haven't used it yet as I have to make a hole in wall for a vent. The garage isn't exactly airtight and there is a 1/4 inch gap all around the garage door - would this be adequate ventilation and what would be the long term implications of using the dryer without a vent?

If the dryer is recirculating the vented air it will reduce its efficiency.
Is it near a window - could you open this while dryer is on?

Plus you're introducing dampness into the room. In a garage this may not be an issue though.

Good point - I never thought of that. No window, unfortunately. Looking like I'm gonna have to get the drill:D Therapy:D
