    Hi,
Is there any way to make a guest account that can basically only access IE and when accessing IE, can only access specific sites? I've tried a guest account, but most of the same programs are still viewable in the "all programs" tab on the start menu.

Whats the best way to have it so basically everything is off limits?

    Any feedback is appreciated:)

well, I'm short on specific details, but I know you can edit the group policy to change what users can do. I use windows server 2003 to administer this in work and it works a treat (no solitare for anyone here I can tell ya! ;) ).

Have a look online for anything covering Group Policy in windows XP. I'll see if I can find anything.

edit: this will only apply to Windows XP Pro

edit: costs $10 for the full version

You'll need to set Guest as admin temporarily

    Log in as guest

    Start | Run | gpedit.msc | OK

User Configuration | System | Run only allowed Windows Applications
    Enabled | Show | Add | iexplore.exe | OK | OK | OK

Set allowed sites in IE (Tools | Internet Options | Content | Settings, allowed sites or something along those lines)

    Log out as guest

Remove admin privilidges from guest account

    It is what it's.

Oneweb - if that's his home pc (and if he has XP Pro) that will lock out every user from other apps. GPO on a standalone applies the settings to everyone so even the admin account mightn't be able to change it back cos it can't run GPEDIT.

Thanks for the feedback:) Turns out I didn't need to do it at all, but I'll have this thread for ref if I ever need to again.

I have XP Pro. Will onewebs suggestion not work are you saying Macros? Can only the admin account change what the guest account can access on the link exactive provided in the unlicensed version? :)
