    Hi there.
I am planning a BBQ/ International Beer Festival for fun on Saturday evening if the weather is good.

Would love to buy a range of international or small brew house beers for the evening.

Any where in the city/north city where I can buy these?

Mc Hughs on the Malahide Road, near the Artane roundabout is great.

http://www.mchughs.ie/ (Not a great website actually)

I was in there only yesterday evening and they've made their imported beers section even bigger. I chatted with the owner for about 15 minutes about Staropramen beer... unfortunetly he doesn't stock as Staropramen Red as they don't export that one.

Yep... the staff really know their stuff so be sure to ask for advice.

I stocked up on lots of yummy Koperberg there yesterday.

Sweeney's in phibsboro is excellent for imported beer. I get all my English Ales and contiental lager from there. Great range of Belgium ales is you fancy something to knock the cobwebs off.

Lilac Wines on Philipsburgh Avenue in Fairview (formerly Sweeney's) has a great selection, particularly of English Ales which you'll be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

Martin's in Fairview is also good especially for German/Czech/Polish brews.

McHugh's in Artane/Kilbarrack as mentioned above is good.

I've heard Redmonds in Ranelagh is good too.

Has anybody seen Jever Pilsner on their travels around Dublin offies?
If you do - can you let me know.
Grab a few bottles for yourself - it is delicious.
Quite dry & crisp with a hint of herbiness.

I know its not "gourmet" beer, but i wonder if anyone has seen "Keo" Cypriot beer for sale around Dublin?

To Monkey fudge and others. I took a run to McHughs in Artane last night. It was really good. A Big fridge stocked with all different types of international and small brew beers. I was very impressed. I bought a good selection including a fair trade banana beer for the craic. It was more of a novelty trip this time, but will be back there again to try out a wide selection based on "taste" alone.

Yep... the big fridge is a new thing. It was just a single shelving unit up until recently.

As the Germans would say "es ist zu herb", in other words, it is too bitter.

Full of hops that stuff, I have drunk it in Jever beside the brewery, dont really like it all that much though, although it is good with food.

I've been a fan of Jever for a few years now. Used to get it in Sweeney's in Phibsboro. I'm a lupophile so it's no surprise that I like it. It's intense bitterness is derived from hop extract being added during the boil, which is cheating a bit but it makes for a mighty tasty brew.
