    argh.
rang sky to get them to install for me.
specfied it was a +30 foot install. chimney on roof of three story apt block.
this detail however was not recorded and the guys who came to install it couldnt, a) no equipt b) no insurance...!!!

rang sky, they basically said sorry but there is nothing they can do about it, as they do not have a special install team in ROI.

have rang a few independants, but they are looking for between 250-300 euro for the install alone.

    anyone out there any recomendations.?

Had the same issue, fully explained to Sky my situation, no problem they said, we have the means to do it they said. Lad came out and only seemed to delighted he didn't have the equipment. We dont do this type of install he said. He walks in and says I've rang Sky and they are re-imbursing you and off he potters. Worst still, they took two months after numerous hot phone calls to various inept managers to get my money back. Rang an independent (Kildare Times), he charged €80 extra to have it pole mounted, I had no choice, no NTL, no Chorus (new estate), so went with it.

I bet if you were getting a HD install, sky would break their back for you.
I hope you get sorted out.

apparently HD is not availalbe here yet, or for the next 6 months, mind you it was the same fool that took my order that told me that.

hopefully i will get sorted, the pic quality on chorus is not so good on my new tv.

A building as big as that surely should have a sky light leading out onto the roof

no idea, i live on the ground floor.

not too sure how impressed the neighbours would be, with me trying to get a ladder into their place upstairs and onto the roof.

out of curiosity did you get permission to install on the chimney and run a cable down?

    yes and no.

i asked could i get sky please.
they said yes as long as its on the chimney.

im taking that as permission, nothing in writing plus there is precedence. the guy next door has a dish on the same chimney, and he never asked anyone, he says.

the management company recently changed hands to the reisdents comittee.
before that i gather they really didnt care a huge amount about the place.
