I read this a while ago and found it to be a very different read. I enjoyed many aspects of the book but at the end I felt oddly disappointed!

The thing is I'm confused as to why I was disappointed. Does anyone else feel the same? It's as if the book wanders and meanders a lot without ever really going anywhere. It explores many things but never digs too deeply perhaps?

    I'm not sure. Opinions?

I found it disappointing also. I expected that some of the threads would be tied together, such as the crime and the spiritualism.

Just more evidence that many (most) modern "serious" writers are unable or unwilling to just tell a decent story.
