Find out exactly what way it is leaking, I.E. is it coming throught the sealant?? If it is you will have to apply more preasure to it I suppose!!

I presume you're talking about the entire sump, rather than just the nut?

Surely you need to get a new gasket for it, rather than gunging a load of silicone onto it.......

Its not the sump plug that is leaking. itts the rim around the whole sump ie the rim between the bottomogf the engine block and the sump
but yes i should replace the washer too.

I have used anaerobic sealant recently and found it brilliant. When you take off the sump again make sure to clean both sides shiny with a brush on a grinder or similar. Also make sure to go around the inside of the bolts! And put on enough stuff!

    Thanks
Thats what i felt was the problem. was afraid to put too much on and have it flow into the engine oil.
