Goodbye Grampian and Scottish Television... hello STV.. natch...

    Today just prior to 6am, the last on-air reference to Grampian TV occured. The name has now been consigned to the bin, along with Scottish TV, to become STV.

    logo from the new website, stv.tv the on screen branding has just the stv...

    British Steel c.1985 anyone?

    Horrible logo, horrible. The combination of the two regions was a long time coming though!

    Just noticed on my Sky EPG, Scottish TV as it was called on the EPG, is now just...

    stv

    Looks rather stupid tbh. And that new logo is bloody woeful!

    And how long will it take for STV to become ITV !!!

    Clearly stage one in a process of de-sensitising the viewer - lose the connection with Scottish and Grampian - paving the way for ITV anytime soon.

    Slightly off topic.. Have you ever flicked round the regions when ITV Play is on??? The ITV Play DOG is shown on all the regional ITV channels, no DOG on UTV and a play dog on the others! Quite interesting - why do they bother!!!

    I wonder what STV will use tonight... ??

    Remember though, in the Scottish Television Limited region, STV has always been known as that (just like we called UTV that when it was still Ulster Television on-air), and in fact, was previously called STV from 1969-1985. Grampian meanwhile has been on the way out since it dropped its old Scottish flag logo in 2000. Since then, the Scottish and Grampian logos have been identical bar the actual text.

    That's the worst logo I have ever seen. :eek:

    Lets hope it becomes ITV.

    I never really liked any of the ITV logos anyway.
